OCOC is committed to guiding you through this new and exciting time in your life. We provide training in a variety of areas for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents. This training will cover everything from how to deal with emotional issues brought on by the foster care process to raising your children in a healthy environment.

adoptive & Kinship family training

AAOCOC adoptive & kinship families will receive training in the following areas:


  • Issues dealing with child abuse/neglect and abandonment 

  • Child care and development 

  • Discipline and self esteem issues 

  • Loss and separation 

  • Techniques for providing positive experiences to children for developing healthy, stable and nurturing environments 

Super Saturday training

Super Saturday (in-service training) is offered quarterly for parents.  Training components will include, but not be limited to:


  • CPR and First Aid

  • Shaken Baby Syndrome 

  • Medications

  • Healthy Brain Development 

  • Managing Aggressive Behavior 

  • Love and Logic (principles on positive parenting) 

  • Effective Black Parenting 

  • Child Development Stages and Phases 

  • Dealing with the Sexually Abused Child 

  • Alternatives to Physical Discipline  

  • Emergency Behavior Intervention
